Topographic Survey for Commercial Redevelopment
The scope of works for this project required a detailed topographic survey to assist with a proposed commercial redevelopment. A primary challenge was capturing accurate ground data across a large, mixed-use site that included industrial elements and natural features, which can be difficult to map using only traditional tools.
To address this, we implemented a drone topographic survey methodology supported by precision GPS survey equipment. The final solution provided the client with a comprehensive dataset, ensuring that all site boundaries and elevation changes were mapped accurately to support their planning application.
High-Resolution Drone Photography and Mapping
Conducting this land survey involved creating a complete visual record of the existing site conditions. The challenge was to deliver high-fidelity data that could be used for both visual inspection and technical analysis, ensuring no detail of the terrain was overlooked.
We utilized photogrammetry to process extensive drone photography into a seamless, measurable orthomosaic. This methodology resulted in a high-resolution digital twin of the area, allowing the client to assess the site remotely and share detailed visual context with project stakeholders.
Precision Engineering and CAD Deliverables
The project scope demanded the conversion of raw aerial data into standard engineering formats. A common challenge in a topo survey is distilling the massive amount of data collected by drones into clean, usable files for architects and engineers.
Our final solution included the delivery of industry-standard 2D CAD drawings alongside 3D models. These files provided the essential metric data, such as accurate footprints and contours, bridging the gap between advanced aerial data collection and traditional design workflows.
