Precision Drone Roof Inspection
The scope of works for this project involved a comprehensive roof survey drone operation to evaluate the condition of the flat roof and slate intersections. A major challenge was safely navigating the complex array of rooftop assets, including cable trays and telecommunications equipment, which made traditional physical access hazardous and impractical.
To address this, our methodology utilized a specialized Drone survey to inspect critical elements like gutters, downpipes, and flashing without stepping onto the roof. The final solution was a detailed condition survey report that successfully identified issues such as weathering marks and potential blockages, ensuring the client had a clear understanding of maintenance needs without the risks of manual inspection.
Advanced Photogrammetry and Reality Data Capture
For this drone roof survey, the objective was to capture high-fidelity data across a multi-level structure. The challenge lay in assessing intricate details, such as the transition between mansard and flat roofs, where defects like loose lead flashing or bird droppings often accumulate but are difficult to see from the ground.
We adopted photogrammetry techniques to solve this, capturing overlapping images to generate precise 3D models and orthomosaics of the site. This solution provided the client with a measurable digital twin of the building, allowing for a granular analysis of the membrane condition and metal access platforms that would be impossible with standard photography alone.
Efficient Diagnostics and Maintenance Reporting
The scope required a rapid drone roof survey to check for damage or wear across the facility’s exterior. Differentiating between simple cosmetic weathering and actual structural degradation on the flat roof membrane presented a specific technical challenge that required high-resolution, stable aerial imagery to resolve.
Our final solution delivered a complete package comprising raw imagery and a processed condition survey report. This methodology not only highlighted specific defects like loose fixings on roof-mounted cables but also provided a cost-effective, safe deliverable that allowed facilities managers to plan repairs accurately without the expense of scaffolding
